A calming space is created with blue, green, pink, white, and violet, among the most relaxing colors for our little children where the classrooms also have scenes from nature with various themes. The space is comfortable with soft cushions, beanbags, soft rugs or mats, dim lighting, soft blankets, stuffed animals, and tactile books. These items help children focus their energy and calm their minds.

In the morning, our bright little stars arrive at the nursery; warmly welcomed by their teachers. Then they engage in self-directed play with toys, building blocks, and activities of their choice. The children also take part in religious observances as well as have an engaging circle time with group activity, where they sing songs with action moves, enjoy storytelling with puppets, discussing various themes, or learn new concepts, whilst developing imagination, language and social skills. They also take part in structured activities, sensory play—using sand, water, or rice with various objects which encourages exploration and learning. They also indulge in outdoor play, where the children have opportunities to run, climb, and engage in physical activities in a safe outdoor space. Students also get to enjoy arts and crafts, play-dough, painting, and other creative activities developing fine motor skills. A daily nursery routine typically involves a mix of free play, structured activities and care routines are all designed to support children’s physical, social, and cognitive development.

BLC provides an amazing opportunity for any student to shine, irrespective of their religion or status. All students thrive with the opportunities given to them across various spheres such as extra-curricular activities, sports and various other avenues. Such students go on to contribute back to the school and to the society/ community as well to Sri Lanka.

The Past Pupils Association is one avenue through which these students are able to contribute to their alma mater whilst also gaining experience of running large scale projects and events. The youngsters and the young at heart all contribute together to achieve outcomes that assist the school and also create camaraderie across the generations. The 70th anniversary year particularly saw many events being held with the support of the newly passed out students as well as the older Alumni. The PPA has grown in numbers over the recent years. Those past pupils keen to join the fun and also contribute are welcome to reach out to the PPA directly or via the school office.
